The Bracklesham Beds are renowned b for their range of
fossils from the Eocene period, 40 to 55 million years ago. The area
around the Hazardous is rich in the remains of the marine creatures that
once flourished in the then tropical climate. These include the
fossilised remains of sharks teeth, rays teeth, fish vertebra,
gastropods, tusk shells, bivalves, and unicellular coin like Nummulites. |
